Spiritual Life

How much simpler life would be if we knew the map our lives were supposed to follow.  But instead we must pay careful attention to the gifts the Lord has given to us to determine His goal for our lives.

At Trinity Lutheran School we believe that all children were created with special and unique gifts and our mission is to go above and beyond the norms of education to help children reach their God-given potential.  Our Lutheran Christian education goes above and beyond to inspire students to greatness, allowing Christ in the classroom, the science lab, the athletic field, the lunchroom and the hearts of our students.

How are students taught about Christ?

  • Weekly chapel services led by pastor, teachers, and students
  • Bible stories and truths taught at every level, every day, in every classroom
  • Bible verses committed to memory weekly
  • Daily prayer in the classrooms led by teachers and students
  • Teachers presenting each academic class from a Christian perspective
  • Community service projects and service activities to showcase Christ's love to the world

Academics

Accreditation

North Central Assocation:   Accredited since 2009

National Lutheran School Accreditation:    Accrediated since 2009

Trinity Lutheran School has a favorable reputation among the Lutheran high schools and the local school districts, and its graduates are readily accepted into 9th grade by schools throughout the metropolitan area.  Being accredited, we continue to work toward excellence in serving the young people placed into our care.

Curriculum

Trinity Lutheran School offers a well-rounded curriculum of grammar, literature, math, phonics, physical education, reading, science, and social studies.  Additionally, Trinity students receive instruction in art, music, computer, and Spanish.  All written curriculum at Trinity is aligned with the Colorado State Standards and Goals and can be viewed in detail by grade level by visiting the Curriculum page on the web.

Achievement Testing

Students at Trinity Lutheran School take the Iowa Test of Basic Skills at the end of February each year and always score above the 90th percentile as a school.

Homework

On average, all students can anticipate about 5-10 minutes of homework per grade level each night.  For instance, a second grader could expect to have about 15-20 minutes of total homework on an average evening; a third grader could expect to have about 20-30 minutes.

Discipline

Trinity Lutheran School strives for a faith-integrated environment that is safe, nurturing, and academically and developmentally appropriate (Hebrews 12:2).  The children are taught to honor God, others, and themselves with their thoughts, words, and actions (Matthew 22:37).  Christian discipline focuses on repentance and forgiveness (Ephesians 4:32).  Students are encouraged to accept responsibility, displaying self-control without creating a problem for others.

Working together with families to encourage positive growth in the area of discipline, we believe . . .

  • that a student is responsible for his or her actions
  • that students have choices in their behavior
  • that by working as a team with families we can recognize positive conduct and redirect negative behavior
  • that students will learn to understand that there are natural consequences as a result of their choices.

Technology

Trinity Lutheran School students use computers for research and creation of presentations for class assignments.  Since technology is such an important part of education in today's world, we make computers easily accessible  to students in the library/computer lab and each classroom.  Teachers use interactive white boards (SMART) to present information, reinforce learning, and foster student interaction in the learning process.

Grade Reporting/Conferences

Parent-Teacher Conferences are held twice a year, in the fall and spring.  However, parents can request a conference at anytime to discuss student progress or concerns and we encourage this personal interaction between teachers and parents.   Report Cards are issued four times a year and mid-term reports are issued half-way through each grading period.  Additionally, grades are available on-line to parents at any time through TeacherEase.

Extra-Curricular Activities

Trinity Lutheran School students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of extra-curricular activities, including but not limited to athletics, music, drama, and academic contests and activities.
